              Description

This outfitter uses well trained dogs and experienced guides who know the area like the back of their hands. A combination of track driven snow machines and 4x4 vehicles are used to locate fresh tracks of the chosen species. Once the guides have located fresh tracks, the hounds are released are used in a hot pursuit. Depending on hunters ability and desire to in on this adventure, it is possible to either stay in camp or in the warm vehicle with another employee while the guides run logging roads to find fresh tracks. If hunter wishes to come along and see the country while searching for the animal, hunters are more than welcome to come along. Many hunters choose to relax when they can, knowing that once a track is found, the game is on and all their energy is needed in order to get to the treed animal. Trekking to your treed cat can be physically challenging, wading through deep snow or walking with snowshoes, something most people are not used to. Hunters need to come prepared for moments of down time interspersed with high energy chasing the cats along with the hounds. It is a thrilling adventure everyone needs to experience. Cougars in the area are numerous, as are their smaller brethren the bobcat and lynx. If a hunter desires to do so, two cougars may be harvested while on the hunt, for an additional trophy fee on the second animal. Two large males are not an option however. A hunter may only harvest one mature male. The second cougar must me a management Tom (young male) or a barren female without kittens. The smaller cats can be added onto the adventure for the cost of the hunting license, and once harvested, a trophy fee for each animal harvested is required. Bobcat and Lynx are challenging adversaries and will give the dos a run for their money, making both the dogs and guides think to get the job done. They are a beautiful addition to your cougar hunt. Both Bobcat and Lynx are best hunted before January 15th, before snow conditions become too deep for the dogs to keep up.

              Transportation (To/From Basecamp)

The majority of these hunts are conducted from a comfortable basecamp located in the heart of the concession. From here, hunters can easily access Black Bear, Mule Deer, Cougar, and California Bighorn and be back for a night of comfort in the cabins. Camp is located in southern Alberta. During the spring and fall hunting seasons, traveling along the Sea To Sky Highway, or Highway 1 is the recommended travel route for their incredible scenery. For those traveling during the winter season, outfitter strongly recommend traveling the Trans Canada Hwy 1 route; as the Sea to Sky, Hwy 99 route winds its way through high elevation mountain passes, and can be treacherous. For those guests who prefer commercial air travel, Kelowna B.C. (YLW) is the closest airport. Outfitter will meet you upon your arrival for the 4.5 hour car ride to our hunting concession. Pickup and Drop-off from Kelowna is included in the price of the hunt. If hunter desires to be picked up and dropped off from Vancouver, please let the outfitter know well in advance, as arrangements need to be made. A fee of $400 will be added to the price of the hunt for pickup/drop-off to Vancouver. Both Air Canada and Westjet Airlines have regularly scheduled flights daily from Vancouver to Kelowna. This outfitter is located 2.5 hours from Kamloops, British Columbia, or roughly 4 hours from Vancouver.
