Description

The Canada Moose in our hunting area is as large as this species come since we are at the very northern boundary where Moose are considered Yukon Alaska Moose. Bulls within our hunting concession can grow antlers exceeding 65 inches wide (165 cm) and our average is usually about 55 inches (140 cm). This area has an excellent potential for producing record class trophies due to our relatively mild winters, plentiful feed and light predation. Local trappers and our wolf control program also help keep the moose population at a high level. We offer moose hunts from September until the end of October and have an excellent success rate. Hunts are conducted using boats or all terrain vehicles in pre scouted areas. This hunting territory has a fine combination of beautiful scenery and unparalleled hunting opportunities in a region with very high game populations. Our remote hunting grounds cover 2000 square miles or 5000 km2 of prime wildlife habitat; valleys, basins, and high plateaus as well as forests, lakes, rivers and waterfalls geologically surrounded by the Alaskan Coastal Mountains and the vast Head Waters of the Yukon River. There are several comfortable, heated cabin camps throughout the hunting concession, all located on fly in lakes in the heart of game habitat, many with heated shower houses.

All of the comfortable cabin camps are heated with wood stoves and have propane lights, cook stoves, foam mattresses and some have heated shower houses. From our camps, there are extensive networks of trails that the outfitter maintains and improve every year. One of the main base camps consists of several well kept log buildings located on a beautiful, remote bay on Tagish Lake surrounded by green lawn and berry bushes. Sitting by the fire pit in a cedar lawn chair, watching sheep on the mountain and hearing a ruffed grouse drumming is our idea of winding down after a day of great hunting. It is absolute paradise and you need to experience it firsthand.

Description

The weather in the North can be unpredictable and very local, but changes fast. It is important to remember that if it is too windy or cloudy, the small float planes that we depend on for transportation in and out of our hunting camps, cannot fly. Please make sure that you book your airline tickets with travel insurance and flexibility, should we not be able to fly you out from camp due to weather issues. Good boots are essential and an important thing to remember is to only have quiet materials for your jacket, pants, rain gear and back pack. If you are not able to walk and stalk quietly, your and your guide's hunting efforts are at risk. Please purchase soft and warm fleece and wool layers in camouflage patterns. Rain gear must be as quiet and water proof as possible. We have found that Helly Hansen makes a quiet, stretchy, tough and water proof rain jacket and pant set in an olive green color. Full gear list to be provided when booked.
