Description

This Alaska hunting adventure consists of hunting two caribou herds. The Central Arctic and the Porcupine herd. With strong herd numbers and great trophy quality you can expect to have an opportunity at harvesting a 375" or larger bull. These are 8 day hunts, 2:1 guided with lots of other details so please contact us for more details. Option to upgrade to a 1:1 hunt. Option to add an additional caribou or grizzly to the hunt.

Classification details:

Arctic bull’s antlers vary in configuration. Hunters should expect to shoot a mature bull if the opportunity exists scoring 375” B&C. We have harvested many book bulls over the years. Cows will also have antlers but will not shed them when pregnant with a calf because they use them for protection against predators. Cow antlers grow to approximately 18” in height.

If you think you want a full time packer to aid in your hunt with carrying gear, glassing, filming and extra support you will need to request it well ahead of time. This cost will cover their wage, food and flights necessary to assist your hunt.

          Hunt price does not include charter from Deadhorse to Kavik. The charter flights are $2500 per person and include transporting the trophy and meat back from camp to Deadhorse.           Refund Policy:

          Deposits are not refundable. When you make a deposit or payment that money is used to reserve your adventure dates and we cannot sell them to anyone else. If for some reason you have to cancel, you will lose your deposit and any payments you have made. If you are concerned that you might get sick or otherwise have to cancel, we suggest buying trip insurance. There are insurance companies that specialize in providing insurance policies for outfitter bookings and hunts. One such company we recommend is globalrescue.com. It is also our policy, depending on the adventure you booked and at our discretion, that if you have to cancel and we are able to book a replacement for you at the regular price we will work with you to apply your deposits to another adventure. Please note that we cannot refund or roll state or government license fees, application fees, draw results, or tags.

          This Alaska hunting adventure consists of hunting two caribou herds. The Central Arctic and the Porcupine herd. With strong herd numbers and great trophy quality you can expect to have an opportunity at harvesting a 375" or larger bull. These are 2:1 fully outfitted 8 day hunts. These hunts fair chase backpack hunts. In the mountains and foothills of the Marsh Fork and Canning is home to two large herds of Barren Ground Caribou that you will hunt, the Central Arctic and the Porcupine Heard. This outfitter has high success on caribou and shoot many trophy bulls. They harvest on average bulls scoring above 375 B&C. From Kavik you will fly in a bush plane, supercub one passenger airplane, into spike camp with a high time Alaskan pilot. You and your professional guide will be strategically placed in an area that gives you the best chance for obtaining your primary species hunted. Your guide is primarily responsible for legality and safety. He will be a true woodsman helping with all facets of the hunt from glassing, knowledge of species hunted and area, judging trophies, strategies of stalking, butchering and preparation of your trophy. Your guide is your hunting partner.

          Food will be freeze dried meals with precooked meats vacuum sealed. There will be a combination of most foods expected on a remote hunt, jerky, trail mix, dried fruit, with some full meals cooked in camp. You may need to use a boat in some camps.

          Hunter should expect some heavy hiking for this trip. Spike camp will be used throughout the 8 days and camps will be mobile.


          Transportation (To/From Basecamp)

          Commercial flight to Fairbanks, Alaska. From Fairbanks there are two basic options to camp fly or fly. First option is to fly on a chartered flight from Fairbanks into a staging strip or Kavik with Wrights Air Service. Second option is to fly from Fairbanks to Deadhorse, Alaska (also referred to as Prudhoe Bay). There are commercial flights each day into Deadhorse with Alaska Airlines on an average cost of $650. In Deadhorse, there is a hotel and restaurant and outfitters will have a small camp approximately an hour south of town, where you can stay if needed due to weather. If you are booking a flight into Deadhorse book it for a morning flight on the way in to allow for maximum amount of time to get into Kavik and into spike camp minimizing your chance to have to stay in Deadhorse at $250 per night. On the way out, book the flight as late as possible to allow enough time to get out of the field to Deadhorse.

          Temperatures are moderate and can get cold but are pretty consistent. You should expect heavy hiking through backcountry. You will be hunting caribou herds that can surpass 30,000 caribou. This outfitter will focus on safely maximizing your experience of the wilderness. They use high quality gear and build a positive camp environment using world class guides. This outfit surrounds its organization with honest, hard working, enthusiastic and knowledgeable individuals that bring expertise, along with love for the backcountry wilderness to the milieu.
