Description
Our Grizzly hunts take place in the Alaska Range south of Fairbanks. This area of the Alaska Range, with its heavy willow draws and large open meadows, provides ideal habitat for some of the best grizzly hunting in Alaska. Grizzly can be hunted individually or in a combination hunt. There is an abundant population of both species, with an excellent opportunity for trophy animals. The area regularly produces Grizzly. Hunters can expect to rise early and glass from camp, eat a hot breakfast, and then hike to a “lookout” where they will glass. Once a good bear is spotted, a stalk is made to within 50 to 150 yards.y up to 9’ square.Success rate over the years stands at about 90%. Our hunters on this hunt have consistently taken grizzlies with hides that will square 8′ with skulls between 23″ and 26″. Hunts take place in rolling hills (alpine) areas with elevations between 500′ and 2,000′. Although not difficult, hunters should be comfortable with hiking two to five miles a day in hilly country. Weather in Alaska is unpredictable. Be prepared and pack accordingly. You shouldn’t see any snow, but expect some rain & wind. Bugs are not usually an issue, but bug dope & head nets are provided when needed. We fly you to one of our remote spike camps, from which all hunting is done by walking from camp and glassing. This time of year we use the spot and stalk method almost exclusively. The bear density in our area is high. Expect to see numerous bears during your hunt. Other critters you may see include moose, black bear, wolf and wolverine. I'm sure you'll enjoy our great wilderness.

Our hunts are done “fair chase” style, meaning a decent fitness level is recommended for an easier outing. This means you’ll be much more engaged than just sitting around and waiting for your prey to come around! Hunt with a rifle or bow (bring your own; foreign hunters will be provided with a rifle to avoid customs hassles) and make sure to have some good quality optics. Everything else is provided for you! All bear hunts must be guided. We offer a 90% success rate on any of our seven tours throughout the year. Only two bear hunters can go on a hunt at a time, and you’ll need to arrive a day prior to starting your hunt
Transportation (To/From Basecamp)
Transportation will be provided via Sea Plane and ground transportation to and from Campsite. Hunts take place in rolling hills (alpine) areas with elevations between 500′ and 2,000′. Although not difficult, hunters should be comfortable with hiking two to five miles a day in hilly country.

Description
Clothing- As a ‘rule of thumb’ for hunting clothes you will want to bring synthetic clothing and use the layered clothing system. Bring a set of lightweight and medium weight long underwear – tops and bottoms (I recommend Patagonia or Mountain Hardwear) and a midweight midlayer such as Mountain Hardwears Compressor jacket. This jacket utilizes Primaloft for insulation and wicks moisture away from your body keeping you dry. Fleece midweights or midweights utilizing Gore-tex Windstopper are also recommended. Wool works fine and can be worn as an outerlayer under your raingear. However, the downside of wool is it gets heavy when it is wet. Socks- I recommend Smartwool socks with a Coolmax liner to prevent blisters. Minimum 3 pairs each. Goat hunters: I highly recommend Rocky brand Gore-tex socks. Gore-tex socks are actually a booty that fit over your Coolmax liner sock and outer Smartwool sock and keep your feet warm and dry. Available online at rockyboots.com Raingear- Good raingear is your best defense against getting wet. Make sure your raingear will fit over your layered clothing. Side zips on pants are nice, to be able to put on over your boots. We recommend Kuiu Yukon or Chugach raingear. Kuiu Yukon raingear Spring bear hunts X-tra tuf boots Fall bear hunts- waders Daypack Binoculars Shooting sticks/bipod Flashlight/ Headlamp Warm hat/gloves .300 Mag or larger 40 rounds of ammunition (Swift A-Frame preferred) Camera Personal Hygiene Items
