    Description

A great opportunity to hunt moose, caribou, black bear, wolf and wolverine on an assisted DIY float hunt in the Alaska range. Outfitter will have scouted the area, provide all gear and includes charters in and out of camp for this adventure. Booking with a hunting partner is required and there can be no more than 4 hunters per camp. Outfitter will visit with hunters and share the best places to camp and hunt based on their knowledge of hunting the area for the last 30 years, as long as what they have seen flying prior to hunters arrival. Outfitter will be based 35 air miles from where hunters are dropped off, so there is a safety net. SAT phones or an Inreach is a must, and will also allow for communication with the outfitter if needed. There are no roads in the hunting area or in the whole game management unit. This hunt includes a complete tent camp, food, all cooking utensils/supplies, game bags, NRS 14' raft with rowing frame, life vests, and associated equipment. Food is the same used on guided trips and hunters will be in the same area. Outfitter will not be loading up the river with multiple hunters. Only one group of hunters at a time with a week of rest in-between to bolster shot opportunities at animals. Round trip transportation from Anchorage to the lodge is included for the hunters and their game. Moving camp and raft gear back to the lodge is also included. Hunters will be responsible to get the gear to the runway at the end of the hunt for pick up. Hunter will fly into the Hartman lodge with an air charter service and start the point of their float from there. The float is about 50 miles, so no time is wasted setting up and breaking down camp every day. This allows for a much more productive hunt. Hunter will be hunting in the mountains near tree-line, not stuck down in the swamp hoping tosee a bull near the river, or rely strictly on calling. The most effective technique is spot and stalk hunting. Outfitter will give hunters suggestions on where to camp and good glassing locations.

    Description

Outfitter will provide tents (either spike camp backpacking tents or 12 x 12 artic oven type tents) for hunters. All meals will be provided for this hunt. This is a DIY hunt so hunters must be prepared to butcher, skin, and cape their own animals. Meat care is taken very seriously in Alaska (all meat must be prepared for human consumption) so hunters must be aware of all laws regarding meat care. Hunters must bring all their own hunting gear and optics. Outfitter does suggest high quality binoculars and spotting scopes to locate animals. Full gear list to be provided if requested when booked.
